About UNEDITIONS
UNEDITIONS is the result of a Digital R&D Fund for the Arts supported project, which explored how emerging behaviours around mobile technologies can help the performing arts to create new forms of immersive digital storytelling.
We were interested to find out how popular mobile reading devices – such as an iPad, Kindle or Samsung Galaxy – could allow audiences and readers to experience elements of the live performance as they read a play, in a way that traditional playscripts can't.
As such, we've developed a beautiful take-home experience – a sort of digital bottle that includes sound, lighting and atmosphere to captures the essence of the live theatre production in a digital reading experience.
This new format was developed through a collaborative co-design process that saw Unlimited, Storythings and the University of Dundee work with a Community Lab in Leeds – 20 participants from West Yorkshire from a range of experiences and backgrounds, who have informed the development of the digital playscript at every step of the design process.
